High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, was honored as Private Security Personnel of the Year at the New Telegraph Awards/Dinner Night 2024.
This recognition acknowledges his crucial role in securing Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, which has been plagued by theft and vandalism ¹.
Tompolo’s efforts have led to a significant increase in oil production, from 800,000-900,000 barrels per day to nearly 2 million barrels per day. This surge in production has strengthened Nigeria’s economic stability and generated more revenue for national infrastructure, education, and healthcare
Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo’s media consultant, emphasized that Tompolo’s ultimate goal is to push production beyond 2 million barrels per day, driven by his deep sense of duty to the nation. Tompolo’s success can be attributed to his engagement with grassroots communities in the Niger Delta, fostering trust and cooperation among local stakeholders ¹.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, commended Tompolo’s contributions to national security, stating that his success in reducing oil theft and boosting production is commendable. Keyamo also praised Tompolo’s ability to unite diverse communities toward a common goal ¹.
Tompolo’s recognition serves as a testament to his transformative impact on Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, demonstrating how strategic leadership and community-driven initiatives can drive national progress.
