The Delta State Government will host a security summit on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to deepen collaboration among stakeholders in tackling security challenges across the state.
In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said the _Delta State Security Summit 2026_ will take place at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, by 10:00 a.m.with the theme “Security: A Collective Responsibility.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will host the summit, which is themed _“Security: A Collective Responsibility.”_ The event will gather key actors across the state to discuss strategies for improving peace, safety, and security.
EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS
According to Dr. Emu, participants expected at the summit include security chiefs, representatives of the Armed Forces, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, Presidents-General of communities, ethnic youth leaders, community youth leaders, civil society organizations, transport unions, and market women associations.
GOVT EMPHASIZES INCLUSIVE ENGAGEMENT
Dr. Emu said the summit reflects the administration’s commitment to building a safer Delta through inclusive engagement and joint action. He stressed that security is a shared responsibility that requires active input from government institutions, security agencies, community leaders, and citizens.
CALL FOR MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTIONS
The state government urged all invited stakeholders to attend and contribute meaningfully to discussions aimed at strengthening the state’s security architecture and promoting sustainable peace.
The summit is also expected to support ongoing efforts by security agencies and community-based groups to address emerging threats and protect residents.
FOCUS ON UNITED FRONT AGAINST INSECURITY
The gathering comes amid renewed calls for stronger cooperation among security stakeholders. Participants are expected to develop a common strategy to present a united front against terrorism, criminality, and other threats to public safety in Delta State.
