Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has initiated new measures to restore and upgrade electricity supply in Isoko and Ndokwa communities, with the commencement of procurement processes for the rehabilitation and expansion of key power infrastructure across the affected areas.
The development follows an Invitation to Tender issued by the Delta State Ministry of Energy for the execution of major electricity projects designed to address long-standing power challenges linked to poor infrastructure and vandalism.
*Key Projects Outlined*
According to the tender notice signed by the Secretary of the Ministerial Tenders Board, T.O. Bayoko, one of the core projects involves constructing a 33KV overhead high voltage line from Emevor through Otor-Owhe to Isoko Roundabout.
It will also include rehabilitating vandalized sections of the existing 33KV line between Iyede and Ellu in Isoko North Local Government Area.
The intervention is expected to substantially improve power supply across the Isoko axis and stimulate economic activity in the region.
*Ndokwa West Intervention*
In a separate project, the state government will rehabilitate and reconstruct the vandalized 33KV power line running from Abbi through Emu-Obodeti to the Kwale 7.5MVA Injection Station in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
This is aimed at restoring stable electricity to multiple communities that have faced prolonged outages due to damaged power facilities.
*Asaba Substation Upgrade*
The Ministry further disclosed plans to upgrade the existing 500KVA Independent Power Project, IPP, substation transformer at the Permanent Secretary’s Quarters in Asaba to a 1000KVA transformer.
The upgrade is intended to strengthen electricity infrastructure within the state capital.
*Commitment Under M.O.R.E. Agenda*
The tender advertisement, released through the Ministry’s Planning, Research and Statistics Department, called on suitably qualified companies to bid for the projects.
The move underscores the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to advancing power infrastructure under its M.O.R.E. Agenda.

Industry analysts note that once completed, the projects will not only restore electricity to the affected communities but also drive economic growth, support small businesses, enhance security, and improve residents’ quality of life.
Since taking office, Governor Oborevwori has prioritized infrastructure development statewide, with increased focus on the power sector following the enactment of the Delta State Electricity Power Sector Law.
The law seeks to expand access to reliable and sustainable electricity for residents and businesses.
The latest power projects are expected to bring relief to thousands of households and businesses in Isoko and Ndokwa communities that have endured years of poor power supply, while reinforcing the administration’s drive to accelerate development across Delta State.
