Election update: Voting in Ughelli North, Okpe delayed

Voting in  Ughelli Nort local government area may not commence early as the electoral materials were not distributed early.

According to the Electoral Officer, Osolease Samuel distribution of materials didn’t commence on time as no party agent were available.

“The materials arrived on Thursday and I sent messages to the parties agents so that I can start distribution but they didn’t respond.

I did a reminder to them as at 12, only for them to start coming as at 6pm yesterday. I have distributed to the Supervising Presiding Officer of all the wards.

The delay is not on INEC but the parties who failed to come on time and there is no way I could have distributed the materials on their behalf. The EO explained.

To a point I have to complain to the CP in charge of Delta central about the challenges am facing but it didn’t change anything.” He further explained.

He however stated that the BVAS are fully charged and it can last throughout the election period.

Ward 3 in Okpe Local Government experienced delay in receiving materials also.

The voting material materials were received at 10:10 am

ETHIOPE EAST COMMENCED ACCREDITATION took place at 8:30 am.

Isoko North commenced accreditation at about 9am

In a nutshell, there are huge turn out of electorate in this election
