The Delta State Government has taken steps to alleviate traffic congestion around the Otovwodo Junction Flyover construction site in Ughelli.
The State Commissioner for Works, Comrade Reuben Izeze, led a team including pressmen to assess the situation and identify solutions.
The traffic challenges have worsened due to the increasing number of haulage trucks using the corridor to avoid the deteriorated Benin-Sapele-Warri Road.
The government has instructed Julius Berger to reopen a previously closed access route linking Okogbe Street to ease movement, especially for articulated vehicles.
Discussions are ongoing with the construction firm to create high barricades to prevent heavy-duty trucks from using fragile inner streets.
The government remains committed to mitigating disruptions caused by construction activities while accelerating the pace of work to deliver the flyover within schedule.
The Commissioner emphasized that the government is working to ensure that citizens do not suffer undue hardship while major infrastructure is being delivered under the MORE Agenda. He assured road users that the government is committed to finding solutions to the traffic challenges and delivering the flyover project on schedule.
