The projects, valued at millions of naira, include a 60-megawatt independent gas-powered turbine, the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road, the dualised new Yenagoa City Road, and the Yenagoa–Oporoma–Ukubie Road.

The event, attended by notable dignitaries including former President Goodluck Jonathan, was witnessed by thousands of Bayelsans who turned out to catch a glimpse of the President.

The inauguration ceremony was a grand affair, with Governor Douye Diri and other state officials in attendance.

In his address, President Tinubu commended Governor Douye Diri for his purposeful leadership, highlighting the governor’s efforts to drive development and progress in the state.

He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments to achieve greater heights, noting that the federal government was committed to supporting Bayelsa State in its development endeavours.

The President emphasized the importance of power in industrialisation, skills development, empowerment, and overall economic growth, noting that the commissioned projects would stimulate economic activities and improve the socioeconomic landscape of the state.

He observed a one-minute silence for soldiers killed in active service, paying tribute to their sacrifice and bravery.

President Tinubu also acknowledged the economic hardship facing Nigerians, assuring that measures were being implemented to ease their burden. He pledged increased support for the Nigerian Armed Forces, promising to provide more arms and ammunition to enhance the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

The President emphasized the need for transparency and honesty in governance, reiterating his commitment to making Nigeria great. “We will continue to partner together to make it a Golden Delta. That is my assurance to the good people of Bayelsa State and Nigeria. We will remain focused on development that will make our nation great,” he said.

On his part, Governor Douye Diri expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for commissioning the projects, noting that federal policy interventions had contributed significantly to reforms, particularly in the power sector.

He highlighted the completion of the Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, a long-abandoned federal project that would benefit over 60 communities and kingdoms across Southern Ijaw and Brass local government areas.

The governor noted that the 630-metre bridge, promised over six decades ago, would significantly reduce travel time and transportation costs for residents.

He added that the projects marked a major step forward in improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for people in Bayelsa State, saying, “This initiative will stimulate economic activities, improve the socioeconomic landscape of the state, and transform local development.”

The commissioned projects are expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and opportunities for the people of Bayelsa State.

The projects are also expected to improve access to healthcare, education, and other essential services, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
