Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has extended warm felicitations to Deltans as they usher in the Year 2026 expressing gratitude to God Almighty for His protection, grace, and sustaining presence throughout the past year.

In his New Year message, the Governor described 2026 as a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings, and collective responsibility, urging citizens to draw strength from past lessons and look forward to the future with optimism, courage, and unity of purpose

Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the sacrifices, resilience, and patience displayed by Deltans, noting that the modest gains recorded across key sectors were made possible by the people’s enduring spirit and shared commitment to progress. He assured that his administration would deepen its focus on good governance, infrastructural renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, enhanced security, and inclusive economic growth in line with the MORE Agenda

The Governor called on residents to shun violence, embrace peaceful coexistence, and uphold values of hard work, tolerance, and patriotism, emphasizing that enduring peace is crucial for sustainable development and prosperity. He also appealed to leaders to strengthen collaboration with the government, noting that building a stronger Delta State is a shared responsibility

Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to the MORE Agenda aligns with the budget proposal for 2026, which prioritizes capital expenditure, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and social intervention programs.

The budget, christened “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” aims to fast-track infrastructure renewal, deepen socio-economic development, and strengthen human capital across the state
