Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday commissioned three road projects totaling about 18 kilometres in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
He restated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and voiced support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The commissioned projects are:
– *4.5km Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road* in Onicha-Ukwuani
– *Phase One of the 5km Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road*
– *8.4km Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road*
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Utagba-Uno, Oborevwori thanked host communities, traditional rulers, stakeholders, and residents for their turnout despite the rain. He described the roads as critical infrastructure that would boost trade, commerce, and rural development across Ndokwa Nation.
“Today marks another milestone in our commitment to bringing meaningful development to the doorsteps of our people. The roads we are commissioning are critical to trade, commerce and our rural renewal programme,” the governor said.
He explained that the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road was designed as a phased project, with the first phase covering about five kilometres from Umutu through adjoining communities. The completed projects, he said, show his administration’s resolve to ensure all LGAs benefit from the state’s infrastructure agenda.

Oborevwori recalled that on May 6, he performed the groundbreaking for the Aboh-Akarai Road and bridge project across the Okiri River in Ndokwa East, where he pledged equitable distribution of projects. He praised the contractors for speedy completion, noting the new roads would improve connectivity, cut transport costs, enhance market access, attract investment, and stimulate socio-economic activities.
However, the governor expressed displeasure over delays on the Inam-Abbi Access Road and Utagba-Uno-Eweshi Road, both initially slated for commissioning with the new roads. He warned that his administration would not tolerate unnecessary delays and directed the Ministry of Works to complete them before year-end.
Oborevwori listed other ongoing projects in Ndokwa Nation, including:
– The approved 7km Emu-Ebendo-Iyasele-Ashaka Road
– The 6km access road to the Kwale Industrial Park
– Emu-Beneku Road
– Ogbedigbo-Afor Road with a spur to the palace
– Timber Road to Waterside in Obiaruku
On electricity, the governor said the state had approved rehabilitation of power infrastructure in Ndokwa communities but lamented that some facilities were vandalized after completion. He assured residents that work to restore power was ongoing and urged community leaders and youths to protect public infrastructure.
“I have directed that work should continue, and I assure you that the persistent blackout affecting Ndokwa communities will be addressed as quickly as possible,” he said.
Oborevwori directed the Commissioner for Works to begin processes for Phase II of the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road project.
He said the visible infrastructure across Delta reflects prudent resource management and deliberate efforts to improve welfare. He also reaffirmed Delta State’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, saying the state would align with policies that promote development and national progress.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme described the roads as the fulfillment of long-standing aspirations of Ndokwa people. He commended Oborevwori’s commitment to infrastructure and pledged continued support from the people.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the projects have opened up previously hard-to-reach communities and will significantly improve transportation and economic activities.
Ndokwa West LGA Chairman, Chief Obi Nzete, praised the governor for numerous projects in the area, saying Oborevwori’s administration has positively impacted lives through investments in roads, education, healthcare, and security.
President-General of Utagba-Uno Community, Barr. Kenneth Oseji, said the road linking seven communities would greatly enhance economic growth. President-General of Ndokwa Neku Union, Comrade Amaechi Asugwuni, congratulated the governor on projects across Ndokwa Nation and urged political leaders to prioritize legacy projects.
The event drew traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, and residents from across Ndokwa Nation, who hailed the governor for what they called unprecedented infrastructure development in the area.
