The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has conducted a series of operations in the Niger Delta region, targeting illegal oil refining sites and thieves. Between June 30 and July 13, 2025,
Troops dismantled multiple illegal refining sites, arrested 50 suspected oil thieves, and confiscated over 25,000 litres of stolen petroleum products.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah.
*Key Highlights of the Operation:*
– *Rivers State:* Seven illegal refining sites were dismantled, with over 6,000 litres of crude oil recovered. Troops destroyed 35 drum pots, 14 drum receivers, and three large coolants.
– *Delta State:* One speedboat and a locally made wooden boat were intercepted, carrying 86 sacks of stolen products. Additional seizures included 24 jerricans of illegally refined AGO.
– *Bayelsa State:* A wheelbarrow and a 70-kg gas cylinder suspected to be used for pipeline sabotage were seized. Several litres of stolen products were recovered, and suspects were arrested.
– *Akwa Ibom State:* A warehouse raid led to the discovery of 15 jerricans filled with illegally refined AGO.
