Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has approved a significant boost to the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state

The Governor who increased the monthly allowance for corps members serving in the state from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000, effective August 1, 2025 also extended the allowance to all Akwa Ibom indigenes serving across Nigeria.

This decision was made during the State Executive Council meeting in Uyo, with the aim of cushioning living expenses and promoting the well-being of corps members.

The governor emphasized that the increment is designed to complement the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly allowance, ensuring corps members can meet their basic needs. With over 10,000 corps members posted to Akwa Ibom annually, Governor Eno believes it’s essential to continue supporting them.

Additionally, the state government has established a committee to engage with key investments, such as Rafia City Hotels (Four Points by Sheraton), to strengthen business relationships and propose a sustainable management framework for Ibom Hotels and Apartments.

This committee is expected to submit its report within 30 days

*Key Points:*

– *Allowance Increase*: Monthly allowance for NYSC members in Akwa Ibom State increased from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000, effective August 1, 2025.
– *Extension to Indigenes*: The ₦20,000 allowance will now be applicable to all Akwa Ibom indigenes serving across Nigeria.
– *Committee Establishment*: A committee has been set up to engage with key investments and propose a sustainable management framework for Ibom Hotels and Apartments
