Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of former Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, who died on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71.
Governor Oborevwori was accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and top government functionaries for the visit to the Warri residence of the late former governor.
The governor described the late Dr. Uduaghan as a great leader, a former boss and a statesman whose contributions to the development of Delta State would remain indelible and unforgettable.

Earlier in the day, Governor Oborevwori had joined family members and other dignitaries, including the late governor’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, to receive the remains of the former governor at the Osubi Airport, Osubi.
Speaking during the condolence visit to the widow, Mrs. Roli Uduaghan and other family members, Governor Oborevwori said the massive outpouring of grief and the large crowd of sympathizers who thronged the airport and the family home was a clear testimony of the impact the late former governor made on many lives.

The governor recalled his personal relationship with the deceased, describing him as his former boss and a major pillar in his own political journey.
He said: “He was my boss. He gave me my highest political appointment as Special Adviser in 2007. That is something that really touches my heart. You are all aware that he supported me throughout this journey.”
Oborevwori described Uduaghan as a calm, articulate, intelligent and thoughtful leader who served Delta State with dedication and made significant contributions to its growth.
According to him, the large number of people who turned out to receive his remains and those who have been visiting the family house is evidence of the many lives he touched through public service and political appointments and empowerment.

The governor particularly commended the late Uduaghan for the construction of the Asaba International Airport, noting that the airport has become one of his most enduring legacies and a major asset to the state.
He said Uduaghan’s decision to site and execute critical development projects beyond narrow ethnic considerations was a demonstration of his broad-mindedness and commitment to the overall progress and unity of Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori assured that his administration would continue to recognize, protect and preserve worthy projects and legacies inherited from previous administrations.
He cited the ongoing remodeling of the Effurun Roundabout Flyover as an example of his administration’s policy of sustaining existing infrastructure while improving on them where necessary.
“He has gone, but he can never be forgotten by Deltans,” the governor declared.
Earlier, Governor Oborevwori signed the condolence register opened in honour of the late former governor, where he expressed deep sadness over his death.
In his tribute, the governor wrote: “I am saddened by the demise of the former Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan. He was a great boss. I commiserate with his beloved wife, children, family members and Deltans over this great loss.”
“May God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Your impact in Delta can never be forgotten. Asamaigor, RIP.”
The governor’s visit came amid widespread expressions of grief across Delta State and beyond over the death of Dr. Uduaghan, who governed the state from 2007 to 2015.
