Daily Report Nigeria has moved beyond digital publishing with the launch of its new broadcast studio in Effurun. The facility marks the media outlet’s shift into a full multimedia and broadcast organisation.
Speaking at the opening on Thursday, Managing Director, CEO and Editor-in-Chief Tare Magbei said the studio opens “a new chapter” in the company’s six-year history of credible journalism.
He said the investment goes beyond infrastructure. “It reflects our commitment to adopt new technologies while holding on to responsible journalism,” Magbei stated.
Since launching in 2020, Daily Report Nigeria has grown from a small online newspaper to one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing digital platforms. It now has over 370,000 followers across Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Telegram, with monthly views between 6 and 10 million.
Magbei said the studio will host live interviews, current affairs, documentaries, podcasts, election coverage, sports and investigative reports. Flagship shows like _The Conversation_, _Daybreak Express_, _Nigerians Talk_, _Foreground_ and _Sportspedia_ will now be produced in higher quality for a wider audience.
The outlet has set a growth target of 10 million monthly views by Q3 and 20 million before the end of Q4. It also plans to expand video journalism, data journalism, podcasts and nationwide reporting.
Calling for collaboration, Magbei said: “Together, we can fight misinformation, deepen public discourse, and strengthen democracy and development.”
He thanked staff, partners, advertisers and readers for their support, describing the studio launch as the foundation for the next phase. “Six years ago we started as a digital newspaper with a vision. Today we open a studio with a mission,” he said.
