In a statement released on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Works in charge of Rural Roads and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the government was alarmed by videos of the attack that have been spreading on social media and other online platforms.

Aniagwu described the incident as unacceptable, with particular reference to the brutal assault on one Simon Mudi. He said such conduct does not reflect the values of the state and will not be allowed to continue.

The Commissioner stressed that the government views the act as unruly behavior and will not tolerate any form of violence. He disclosed that security agencies have been directed to identify the perpetrators, arrest them, and ensure they face the law.

He further stated that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains committed to preserving peace, law and order across Delta State. According to him, the government will not shield anyone, no matter their position or background, from facing consequences for violent acts.

Aniagwu added that maintaining security and public order is a top priority for the current administration. He assured residents that steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence and to ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.

The statement comes amid growing public concern after footage of the Effurun incident circulated widely online, sparking calls for swift government action.

The government urged citizens to remain calm and to provide useful information to security agencies to aid the investigation and arrest process.
