The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a final order restraining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, scheduled for November 15-16. The convention aimed to elect national officers for the party.
Justice Peter Lifu granted the order following a suit filed by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who alleged that the PDP denied him the opportunity to purchase a nomination form for the office of National Chairman.
The court ruled that the PDP must comply with its constitution and guidelines before proceeding with the convention. It also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising or monitoring the convention until Lamido is allowed to participate.
