Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged political leaders and stakeholders of his administration to intensify grassroots mobilisation by taking the achievements of his administration’s MORE Agenda to every corner of the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Governor gave the charge on Wednesday while declaring open a one-day seminar for Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Executive Assistants on political matters.
The seminar was organised by the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, and held in Asaba.
Oborevwori, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Johnson Erijo, said stakeholders must communicate the achievements of the administration with verifiable facts.
He said both the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government and the MORE Agenda of the state government were driving reforms targeted at strengthening the economy, expanding opportunities and promoting sustainable development.
The Governor noted that his administration had remained focused on delivering tangible results, citing major road construction, bridges and urban renewal projects across the state.
He added that the administration had also made significant investments in education, healthcare, human capital development, youth empowerment, enterprise development and security.
“We promised more, and our record speaks for itself,” Oborevwori stated.
He highlighted the growing partnership between the Delta State Government and the Federal Government, noting that the synergy had created new opportunities for the state.
According to him, the 2027 elections should be seen beyond politics, stressing the need to consolidate on the progress made, sustain stability and ensure continuity of ongoing projects and programmes for the benefit of Deltans.
Oborevwori urged political leaders, appointees, stakeholders and supporters to remain united, disciplined and focused, charging them to take the message of the administration to every ward, community and local government area in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Senator Aguariavwodo urged participants to effectively communicate the impact and achievements of the Renewed Hope and MORE Agenda to the grassroots.
He said political appointees must go beyond merely announcing government programmes and begin to explain their benefits in ways that are visible, relatable, verifiable and understandable to ordinary citizens.
Aguariavwodo described the seminar as a platform for introspection, assessment and strategic planning, adding that governance must ultimately be measured by its impact on the lives of citizens.
He explained that the MORE Agenda, which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security, was designed to improve the living standard of Deltans.
In their goodwill messages, Mr. Francis Onuora and the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, charged participants to arm themselves with facts, figures and statistics to effectively defend and communicate the achievements of the administration.
They warned that lack of adequate knowledge could make them vulnerable to criticism and misinformation from the opposition.
The event also featured keynote addresses by the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, the Provost of Southern Delta University, Orerokpe Campus, Prof. Akpovughaye Taiga, and Mr. Maxwell Idama Omamuyo.
