The Warri Rebirth Initiative has appealed for peace in Warri, urging parties involved in recent clashes to put aside their differences and focus on socio-economic development. In a statement, the group’s Chairman, Kes Agbosa, Publicity Secretary, Patrick Origho, and Secretary, Linus Chima, emphasized the need for understanding and dialogue to resolve conflicts.

They expressed sadness over the resurgence of violence, which has disrupted the city’s peace, and urged the parties to remember and honor their historic past that once made Warri a great place to live. The initiative commended the State Government for taking steps to restore normalcy and called for continued dialogue to foster unity and understanding among the people ¹.

The group’s appeal comes amid growing concerns over the weekend’s clash between Itsekiri and Urhobo youths in Warri South Local Government Area. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has also appealed for calm, restraint, and peaceful coexistence among stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of peace for economic growth and development initiatives in Warri ².
