Buhari rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Army to become the country’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985. Later, he transitioned into democratic politics, winning the presidency in 2015 and 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His presidency was historic for being the first time an opposition leader defeated an incumbent president in Nigeria.
The late President Buhari’s impact on Nigerian politics and governance cannot be overstated. His leadership style, characterized by a strong stance on discipline and accountability, earned him both admirers and critics. As the nation mourns his passing, Nigerians reflect on his contributions to the country’s development and the legacy he leaves behind.
