The Nigerian delegation, led by Shettima and Gbajabiamila, was received in London by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and other dignitaries.

This gesture underscores the high esteem in which the late President Buhari is held by his successor, President Bola Tinubu, who directed the delegation to convey his condolences to the Buhari family and ensure a dignified repatriation of the former leader’s remains.

President Buhari, known for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development and stability, served the nation with distinction both as a military leader and a democratically elected president.

His tenure was marked by significant policy initiatives, including a bold anti-corruption drive, though not without controversy.

Despite his administration facing allegations of corruption and inefficiency, Buhari’s legacy is viewed by many as a period of strong leadership and vision for Nigeria’s future.

Throughout his life, Buhari demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication to public service.

He was born in 1942 in Daura, Katsina State,.

Buhari rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Army to become the country’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985. Later, he transitioned into democratic politics, winning the presidency in 2015 and 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His presidency was historic for being the first time an opposition leader defeated an incumbent president in Nigeria.

The late President Buhari’s impact on Nigerian politics and governance cannot be overstated. His leadership style, characterized by a strong stance on discipline and accountability, earned him both admirers and critics. As the nation mourns his passing, Nigerians reflect on his contributions to the country’s development and the legacy he leaves behind.

As the delegation prepares to escort President Buhari’s body back to Nigeria, the nation holds its breath in anticipation of the final farewell to a leader who left an indelible mark on its history.
.
The funeral arrangements are expected to be conducted with full state honors, reflecting the late president’s stature and service to the nation.
