UNIMED Registrar Murdered in Ondo, Police Confirm

The Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), Mr. Ezekiel Imoleayo Adeniran, has been reportedly murdered in the early hours of Thursday, July 17, 2025.

This was confirmed to a Television house by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olusola Ayankade
in a telephone interview

He explained that Adeniran died after two unidentified men emerged from the bush and forced a substance into his mouth.

The police are still investigating whether the substance was poisonous.

– *Location*: The incident occurred in Fanibi, Akure Division, Ondo State.
– *Cause of Death*: The exact cause of death is still under investigation, pending autopsy results.
– *Investigation Status*: The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department for further investigation

– *University Community*: The university community is in mourning, describing Adeniran’s death as shocking and the entire university into mourning.
– *Police Response*: The police have appealed to the public for information that could help track down the perpetrators.

Adeniran had assumed office as the third substantive Registrar of UNIMED on January 6, 2025, and served diligently until his untimely demise.

His remains have been deposited at the morgue in a nearby hospital
