Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has approved ₦1,390,209,350.00 to cover the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees of 39,536 students in public secondary schools across the state.

Kefas says this gesture is part of his administration’s free-education policy.

He said the policy aims to remove financial barriers to education and ensure quality education for all Taraba children.

The Governor says the approved amount covers WAEC fees, CASS offload, administrative charges, practicals, monitoring, sensitization, remuneration, school albums, registration PINs, and other exam-related expenses.

He added that the government will also settle NECO fees for 38,000 registered students in the next phase.

Governor Kefas also revealed the ₦243,832,615.00 has been approved for food and transport for students’ exchange.

Breakdown of the programmes:

₦148,565,040.00 for feeding students at Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Jalingo, and Government Day Secondary School, Wukari.

₦52,750,490.00 and ₦42,517,085.00 for transporting indigenous and non-indigenous students in the exchange programme.

Government’s Commitment:
The administration prioritizes education, aiming to ensure no child is out of school and providing critical support for academic pursuits.
