Six suspected robbers, kidnappers arrested in Ekpan

The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers/Kidnappers who has been operating around Ekpan and JAKPA axis of Uvwie local government area if Delta State under the guise of vigilantes/hunter .

This was made known to Track Upnews via press release by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe.

The PPRO disclosed that residents of Ekpan and JAKPA axis have reported alleged disturbance of  some syndicates terrorizing the environment and  the police have been making drastic efforts to track without success until on the 16 December 2022

The statement states that the arrest was made after a Toyota Sienna space bus, ash in colour without registration number conveying six male occupants intercepted and a conducted a search.

It further revealed that the search and arrest was carried out by the Police operatives attached to Ekpan Police station who were deployed on patrol along Jakpa Road on Thursday.

The statement noted that the 27 years suspects, Aaron Okorigwe and his other five gang members were taken into custody for Investigation when they could not give reasonable account of themselves.

It was later revealed after interrogation that they were hoodlums who operates under the guise of being members of hunters group from Ovwian Aladja, but sneaks into Ekpan Community in a Sienna vehicle to kidnap or rob victims they run to hibernate in Ovwian Aladja..

Based on this findings, findings, the DPO on the 16th December 2022
invited three victims (names withheld), all of whom were at various times victims of armed robberies, and kidnappings in the area, and placed the suspects on identification parade where the these suspects were mixed with other suspects , surprisingly, the victims identified the exact suspects as the syndicate that robbed and kidnapped them..

The PPRO disclosed that several items were recovered from to hem which include: three pump action guns, four locally made guns, one long axe and seven expended cartridges were recovered.

Other items recovered are Nine live cartridges, native charms, three cutlasses and two number plates.

Bright Edafe however appealed to all criminals in the state to desist from their nefarious activities adding that there is no gain in criminality

Investigation into the case is is ongoing.
