Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a strong call to action to newly appointed civil servants and political appointees, urging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and merit in their roles.

This charge was delivered during a swearing-in ceremony for new members of the Delta State Civil Service Commission and Permanent Secretaries.

The Governor emphasized that the appointments were a testament to the individuals’ experience, integrity, and proven track records of service. He noted that the reappointments to the Civil Service Commission were a result of their commendable performance and the trust placed in them by the administration, following successful screening and confirmation by the Delta State House of Assembly.

Governor Oborevwori highlighted that the appointments of Permanent Secretaries were based on competence and merit, reflecting the administration’s commitment to public service reforms in the state. He stated that the new appointees would play a crucial role in strengthening leadership capacity within the civil service, driving policy implementation, and delivering development to the people.

The Governor emphasized the importance of a disciplined, professional, and motivated workforce in achieving the administration’s goals.

He charged the Civil Service Commission to ensure merit-based appointments and promotions, uphold professionalism, and guarantee fairness and equity in the treatment of all civil servants.

In his remarks to the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries, Governor Oborevwori urged them to demonstrate exemplary leadership, honesty, and dedication to duty. He encouraged them to lead by example, setting standards for others to follow, and to make lasting contributions to the growth and development of the state.

The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and productivity of civil servants, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting morale and efficiency. These initiatives include the construction of residential quarters, regular payment of salaries, clearance of pension obligations, implementation of promotions, expanded training and capacity-building programs, and improvements in the work environment.

Comrade Olumami Oyibo, responding on behalf of the appointees, thanked the Governor for the appointments and assured that they would deploy their experience and expertise to advance good governance and promote the growth and development of Delta State.
