Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged the newly inaugurated members of the Governing Council of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, to discharge their responsibilities with utmost integrity, diligence, and commitment.

The governor emphasized that effective governance is crucial to strengthening the institution’s standing as a leading centre of academic excellence in Nigeria and beyond.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, and Mr. Charles Ajuyah, SAN, who were sworn in as members of the University’s Governing Council. Governor Oborevwori described the occasion as significant, highlighting the critical role the Governing Council plays in providing policy direction and oversight to ensure the effective governance of the university.

The governor noted that the appointment of the new members comes at a time when DELSU is strengthening its position as a leading centre of higher learning in Nigeria and beyond. He expressed confidence that the wealth of experience and expertise brought by the new members would help the university continue to produce graduates who are academically sound, morally upright, and socially responsible.

Governor Oborevwori charged the new council members to serve with transparency and commitment, emphasizing that their decisions would have a lasting impact on the lives of students, staff, and the entire people of Delta State. He urged them to work harmoniously with the Vice-Chancellor and university management to advance the mission of the institution.

In response, Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, on behalf of the inaugurated members, expressed gratitude to God and the Delta State Government for the opportunity to serve. He assured the governor that the council members would work diligently to add value to the administration of the institution and advance its mission.

Agas also commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, particularly the cordial relationship among the arms of government in the state, which he said had translated into remarkable achievements in various sectors.

The newly inaugurated members pledged to serve with dedication, loyalty, and integrity, praying for continued wisdom and strength for the governor to take Delta State to greater heights.
