Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has presented 65 brand new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to traditional rulers across the state.

The presentation, which took place in Government House, Asaba, was a gesture of appreciation for the monarchs’ contributions to governance and their role in promoting peace and stability in their respective domains.

Governor Oborevwori described the traditional rulers as “tools of service” and vital intermediaries between government and the people at the grassroots.
He emphasized that the monarchs’ contributions to governance are critical and often understated.
The Governor lauded the traditional rulers for their support and commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity in the state.
According to Governor Oberevwori , 60 brand new Prados and 5 Land Cruisers SUVs presented to the traditional rulers is for ease of movement.
He explained that the SUVs were chosen for their strength, durability, and functionality, given the rural and difficult terrains many traditional rulers operate in.
Oberevwori further explained that the gesture is part his administration’s broader philosophy of inclusive governance under the MORE Agenda, particularly its pillar of Opportunities for All.
On their part, the traditional rulers expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for the gesture, noting that the vehicles would significantly enhance their efficiency in the discharge of their traditional roles.
The Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd.), Orhue I, described the presentation as a timely and deeply symbolic intervention that strengthens grassroots governance and peace-building across the state.
The Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the presentation of the vehicles to traditional rulers was a clear and practical demonstration of the Oborevwori administration’s respect for traditional institutions in the state.
He added that the government’s gesture was in appreciation of the vital role traditional rulers play in ensuring peace, unity, and stability across the state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, outlined the various developmental strides of the Oborevwori administration across different sectors of the state.
He noted that Delta State was being governed with empathy, foresight, and a deep commitment to the collective welfare of its people.
