The Delta State Government has conducted a pre-handover inspection of the DSC Roundabout Flyover in Effurun, marking a significant milestone towards the completion of the state’s flagship urban infrastructure project. The inspection was led by the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, alongside a high-powered government delegation

According to the Commissioner, the flyover is about 98% completed, with only minor finishing works outstanding. The inspection team expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction and adherence to specifications.

The government team is confident that the project will be completed to the highest standard and is expected to significantly decongest traffic in Effurun and its environs.

The DSC Roundabout Flyover is expected to

Decongest traffic in Effurun and its environs
– *Enhance safety*: Improve safety for road users
– *Boost economic activities*: Facilitate smoother movement of people, goods, and services across the metropolitan area

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barr. Val Arenyeka, highlighted the strategic importance of the flyover and adjoining road network to Delta State’s agricultural value chain.

He noted that improved road infrastructure would ease the movement of food produce from major farming communities to urban markets.

The Commissioner disclosed that the state currently has
– *Over 2,000 hectares of vegetable farms* in Orerokpe
– *About 3,800 hectares dedicated to cassava cultivation* in another axis with attached processing facilities
– *More than 132 hectares of rice under dry-season farming* in Aviara, Isoko South Local Government Area

The government is working to scale up food production across the state through public-private partnerships.

The DSC Roundabout Flyover is a significant infrastructure project that will have a positive impact on the state’s economy and residents.

With its near completion, it is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and boost economic activities in the area.
