The Delta State Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in its efforts to combat crime, with recent operations yielding impressive results.
This was in accordance to the Press Release made available to tracku-news.com by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe.
On April 2, 2026, the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) raided a residence in Sapele, recovering a Beretta pistol and three live ammunition rounds.

The suspect, 29-year-old Evan Olokpa Igbunu, is in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
On April 1, 2026, Ovwian-Aladja Division operatives seized a sack of suspected illicit drugs in the Igbogidi area. The suspects fled upon spotting the police, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Abraka Division operatives rescued a kidnapped victim on April 3, 2026, after a report was received on April 1. The victim was abducted by armed men, but the suspects abandoned them upon police arrival. The victim is safe and cooperating with authorities.

On April 3, 2026, Ugborikoko Division operatives arrested Tare Orusanaye, 26, with suspected cannabis, a weighing scale, and other paraphernalia at Jakpa Road, Effurun.
Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives for their professionalism and urged the public to continue providing credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts.

CRIME CRACKDOWN: DELTA POLICE RECOVER ONE BERETTA PISTOL AND THREE ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, ARREST TWO SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM, AND RECOVERS ILLICIT DRUGS
The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes across the State, leading to the arrest of suspects, recovery of arms and illicit substances, and the rescue of a kidnapped victim.
1. RECOVERY OF FIREARM AND ARREST OF SUSPECT:
On 2 April 2026, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), acting on credible intelligence, carried out a coordinated raid on the residence of one Evan Olokpa Igbunu, male, aged 29, of Ogborumu Street, NDDC Area, Sapele. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of one Baretta pistol and three rounds of live ammunition concealed within the building. The suspect is in custody, while investigation is ongoing.
2. RECOVERY OF SUSPECTED ILLICIT DRUGS:
On 1 April 2026 at about 2040hrs, operatives of Ovwian-Aladja Division, acting on information from a surveillance team regarding suspicious activities along the Igbogidi axis, carried out a raid in the area. On sighting the Police, the suspects fled the scene. A sack containing substances suspected to be hard drugs was recovered, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
3. RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM:
On 3 April 2026, operatives of Abraka Division successfully rescued a kidnapped victim following a report received on 1 April 2026. The victim was abducted by armed men who invaded a residence at Denedo Extension, Abraka. The Divisional Police Officer mobilised patrol teams in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters and stormed the bush where the victim was taken to. The suspects upon noticing that the policemen were closing in on them, abandoned the victim and took to their heels, leading to the victim’s rescue in a bush along the railway line. The victim is safe and has provided useful information, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects.
4. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER:
On 3 April 2026 at about 1420hrs, operatives of Ugborikoko Division, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a raid on a premises at Jakpa Road, Effurun. A female suspect, Tare Orusanaye, aged 26, was arrested in possession of substances suspected to be cannabis, a weighing scale, tobacco items, and a generator tank used to conceal the drugs. Investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commended the operatives for their proactive response and professionalism. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and urged members of the public to continue to provide credible information to assist the Police in combating crime across the State.
