Dangote Petroleum Refinery has returned to selling petrol in naira, ending a one-week dollar pricing regime, even as it increased ex-depot price by N140 per litre.

The 650,000-barrels-per-day refinery announced the change in a notice to marketers on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The development was also confirmed by industry platform

According to the notice, gantry price rose from N1,075 to N1,215 per litre, a 13.02 per cent increase. Coastal loading price also went up from N1,441,575 to N1,602,495 per metric tonne. The refinery said the new prices take immediate effect and that all unloaded gantry volumes will be repriced.

The refinery had on July 15 suspended truck loading and switched to dollar pricing, a move that tightened supply and forced marketers to buy from private depots. During the suspension, depot prices climbed from about N1,075 to N1,275 per litre.

Independent marketers had complained they could not access forex for dollar transactions. Industry players warned the dollar policy would increase demand for foreign exchange and push petrol prices higher nationwide.

Chief Executive Officer of Petroleumprice.ng, Jeremiah Olatide, confirmed the refinery has resumed naira sales and gantry operations.

Meanwhile, petrol sold for about N1,300 per litre in Lagos and other states on Wednesday as crude oil traded around $94 per barrel amid Middle East tensions.
