Asaba: The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, alongside three other suspects over the controversial death of Mr. Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education.

The arrest, confirmed in a press release issued on Monday September 28, 2026 by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, brings the total number of suspects currently in police custody in connection with the case to five.
According to the Command, the latest development is in continuation of discreet investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of the senior civil servant.
The police also declared two key suspects wanted, whose presence is critical to the investigation.
They are Mrs. Clemetine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education in the ministry, and Mr. Clement Apia, who is said to be the driver attached to the Commissioner for Secondary Education.
The Command stated that it has intensified a manhunt for the two suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, has called on the two fleeing suspects to submit themselves to the police without further delay, wherever they may be.
CP Erale assured that the investigation will be pursued thoroughly, impartially and professionally, adding that due process will be followed and anyone found culpable will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The police command also extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased Deputy Director.
