Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has commiserated with the Catholic Diocese of Warri and the entire Christian faithful over the death of Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Mario Ozele.
Fr. Ozele, who was the Episcopal Vicar of Ughelli Pastoral Region and Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ughelli, died in the early hours of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the age of 60, after a brief illness.
Governor Oborevwori, in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Wednesday, described the passing of the cleric as a painful loss to the Catholic Church, his parishioners and the people of Delta State.
The Governor said Fr. Ozele lived a life of dedicated service to God and humanity, noting that his contributions to the spiritual growth of his parish and the Ughelli region would be greatly missed.
He commiserated with the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, the priests, religious and the entire Catholic community in the state, urging them to find solace in the exemplary life the deceased led.
Oborevwori also extended his condolences to the immediate family of the late priest, praying to God to grant them and the church the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late priest.
