The political and business elite of Delta State on Wednesday converged on Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area, for the traditional marriage of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s son, Innocent to Tobore Arigbodi.
Tobore is the daughter of prominent businessman and Managing Director of Librod Energy Limited, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi.
The ceremony, held at the Arigbodi family’s country home, was conducted according to Urhobo customs and traditions. It attracted political leaders, business executives, traditional rulers and dignitaries from within and outside the state.
Among those present were Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; former governors Chief James Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Senator Ede Dafinone; and the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR.
Also at the event were Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Hon. Francis Waive; and Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chiedu Ebie.
Prominent business leaders at the ceremony included Chief Victor Egukawhore, Chief Eta Enahoro, Chief Tunde Smooth, Chief Johnbull Ejovi, Chief Tony Oboroh and Chief John Oguma.
Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, Commissioners, local government council chairmen, top government officials, politicians and other guests were also in attendance.
The event featured a colourful display of Urhobo culture, with traditional rites, music and dancing as both families formally celebrated the union.
Governor Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, alongside the bride’s parents, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi and his wife, received guests and exchanged pleasantries with dignitaries.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by a performance from Port Harcourt-based musician, Duncan Mighty, who entertained guests with his hit songs.
The gathering, which cut across political, business and social circles, underscored the goodwill and strong relationships enjoyed by the Oborevwori and Arigbodi families.
Guests offered prayers for the newly married couple, wishing them a fruitful union, peace and lasting happiness as they begin their journey together.
