Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has felicitated Muslims in Delta State and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In a goodwill message released Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful and called on them to use the celebration to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
Oborevwori said the values associated with Prophet Muhammad — compassion, humility, tolerance, sacrifice, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity — remain central to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace, unity and sustainable development.
“The occasion provides an opportunity for all of us to strengthen our commitment to love for one another, peaceful coexistence and the advancement of the common good,” the governor stated.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive Delta State where citizens, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation, can live and pursue their aspirations in peace and dignity.
The governor also urged the Muslim community to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at fostering peace and prosperity in the state, while praying for continued stability and progress in Delta and Nigeria at large.
Oborevwori concluded by wishing Muslims a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
Eid-ul-Mawlid is observed annually by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
