The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has rejected claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he instructed the removal of the party’s candidates’ billboards in the area.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, through the New Media Office of the Executive Chairman, Andaye labeled the accusation from Delta PDP Publicity Secretary, Chief Kingsley Akpos Oturubo, as “outrightly false, misleading and spurious.”
Andaye clarified that neither he nor his team operates as the Delta State Signage and Advertisement Agency (DESSAA). He noted that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori recently ordered DESSAA to fully enforce laws governing outdoor advertising across Delta State.
The statement referenced a special government announcement from the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu. The directive requires DESSAA to implement measures including _Operation Tag Your Boards_, mandate the submission of ARCON certificates, and secure site approvals within seven days. The SSG cautioned that failure to comply would lead to sanctions, pointing to the need to curb the clustering of billboards and reduce environmental hazards.
“From the above which is as clear as crystal and unambiguous, it is obvious that the allegation by the Delta State PDP chapter Publicity Secretary is a misplaced one,” the release stated.
Andaye dismissed the claim that the Governor directed him to pull down posters and billboards of opposition parties as “not only spurious and laughable, but clearly an insult on the office and person of the Executive Governor.”
“For records purposes and the avoidance of doubt, the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, clearly dissociates self and his team from any such act of pulling down posters and billboards of any candidate of any party,” the statement added.
The council chairman called it “reprehensible and libelous” to refer to a Chief Security Officer of a local government as a “thug” or “street urchin” involved in lawlessness. He urged the Delta PDP to “do due diligence check before rushing to the public space to malign law abiding public officers.”
The statement was signed by the New Media Office of the Executive Chairman, Bomadi Local Government Council, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
