Political leaders in Bomadi and Patani have hailed the emergence of Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, describing it as a defining political transition and a clear signal that voterPoliticals want fresh leadership.

Ganagana secured the APC ticket during the party’s primary on Saturday, May 16, 2026, defeating long-serving lawmaker Hon. Nicholas Mutu, who had represented the constituency since 1999.

Bomadi LGA Chairman Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye congratulated Ganagana and said the result showed a strong push for progressive representation ahead of the 2027 elections. He praised delegates and party stakeholders for conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible exercise.

The Delta APC State Chairman also commended the conduct of the primary, stating that Ganagana’s victory marked a new phase in the political evolution of the constituency.

Chief Economic Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Barry Pere Gbe, called the outcome “the triumph of the people’s collective voice and confidence.” He said it demonstrated the constituency’s readiness for purposeful, people-oriented leadership.

APC South-South Legal Adviser Barr. New-World Safugha said the unity and discipline shown by party members had strengthened the APC’s credibility across the region.

Engr. Frances Muturu noted that the result could inspire greater grassroots participation, particularly among youths.

One of the other aspirants, Mr. Preye Okaba, congratulated Ganagana and urged party members to unite in the interest of the constituency and the party.

Senator James Ebiowou Manager described the outcome as a historic milestone that would redefine leadership and representation, while Chief Funyei Manager commended the peaceful conduct of stakeholders and supporters.

Youth groups, women’s organizations, and community stakeholders have also welcomed Ganagana’s emergence. Political observers said Mutu’s defeat signaled a demand for fresh direction, broader inclusion, and more responsive representation in the constituency.

In his response, Ganagana thanked delegates, party leaders, and constituents, saying the victory belonged to the people who chose a renewed path.

He pledged to deliver effective representation focused on unity, development, youth and women empowerment, and leadership guided by service, inclusiveness, and accountability.
