Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated several landmark projects at Southern Delta University, Ozoro, as part of the institution’s maiden convocation ceremony.
The projects commissioned include a block of science laboratories, the Faculty of Computing Complex, the Pa James Odhokpa Izomor Engineering Workshops, male and female hostels, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences building.
Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to God for the milestone and lauded the university for its steady growth within a short period. He commended the university’s management for their prudent and transparent management of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which has translated into tangible infrastructural development.
The Governor also praised the private initiative of Engineer Godwin Izomor, who donated the engineering workshops in memory of his father, Pa James Izomor, describing it as a worthy investment in education and human capital development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Oboreh, thanked Governor Oborevwori for his consistent funding and support, which has enabled the university to achieve significant milestones.
The inauguration of the projects reinforces the state government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education and providing modern facilities to support learning and innovation in Delta State.
Delta State Governor has also rewarded the outstanding students of Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, with cash awards.

The Governor announced ₦5 million for the overall best graduating student, Frank Akaine, and ₦1 million each for the other three First Class graduands at the institution’s maiden convocation ceremony.
Governor Oborevwori also approved several donations to the university, including additional ambulances, equipment for the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, hostels for medical students, and a Faculty of Law complex. The Governor’s support aims to enhance the institution’s infrastructure and academic programs.

The gesture has been welcomed by the university community, with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Oboreh, expressing appreciation for the Governor’s commitment to the institution’s growth
