Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has called on leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Delta South Senatorial District to put aside differences, return to the grassroots and work for an overwhelming victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Joel-Onowakpo made the call on Thursday at the APC Delta South Senatorial District meeting held in Warri, where he warned that the party cannot afford to go into the next elections divided or complacent.
According to him, the task before party leaders and members is clear and that is to win convincingly. He said the APC must translate the goodwill and confidence of the people into actual votes at the polling units, insisting that mere popularity without effective mobilisation will not deliver victory.
He charged leaders to go back to their wards, units and communities to engage the electorate directly and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, stressing that the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s leadership across the country are visible and do not need to be explained to the people.
The senator urged all party candidates to remain loyal to the party and work collectively with leaders at all levels, warning that internal wrangling could jeopardise the APC’s chances at the polls. He said unity is non-negotiable if the party hopes to dominate Delta South.
He said party leaders in Delta South, including those working with the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, the state party chairman and other stakeholders, must take the campaign to the grassroots and ensure that every constituency is delivered for the APC, leaving no room for the opposition to capitalise on any weakness.
Joel-Onowakpo said the goal is not just to participate in the 2027 elections but to secure a landslide victory for all APC candidates in the senatorial district.
He acknowledged the progress the party has made so far but noted that a lot more still needs to be done to consolidate its structures and sustain unity among members.
He added that the people are expecting results from the APC and the party must not disappoint them, urging members to commence aggressive mobilisation in their communities immediately.
He maintained that victory in 2027 will depend on the party’s ability to convert popular support into votes, adding that this is not a time for complacency but for hard work, mobilisation and unity.
