A devastating accident has claimed the life of a final-year student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State.
The incident occurred on Monday when the students embarked on a motorcade parade to celebrate the completion of their final examinations.
The accident occurred at Ujoelen, close to the primary school.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle attempted to overtake another, leading to a loss of control and a fatal collision with a truck.
The students were part of a convoy made up of fresh graduates of the university, who were celebrating their achievement.
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Cyril Mathew, confirmed the incident, stating that one person died and five others were injured in the crash.
Mathew explained that the students were driving in a convoy after writing their last paper and one of them attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in the fatal accident.
According to Investigation, Witnesses reported that the group of students drove recklessly and failed to observe basic safety rules during the celebrations.
