The 2023 Gubernatorial candidate of the Delta State People’s Democratic Party Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori escaped assassination attempt on Sunday, March 12th.
This was made Known In a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu,
According to the statement, unknown gun men ambushed his convoy and opened fire on them along the Warri/Sapele Highway on his way to his Osubi residences while returning from a political visit to Sapele.
The State PDP Governorship Candidate who is also the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly came under the heavy attack between Elume junction and Okuabude in Okpe Local Government Area of the State .
The car which he was driven in and security vehicles attached to the convoy were riddled with bullets in the incident that took place at about 9:05pm.
The statement further explained that the PDP Gubernatorial candidate was able survived the attack based on God’s grace God and the bullet proof car which he rode
The Chief Press Secretary disclosed that security men attached to the governorships candidate boldly engaged the suspected assassins in a exchange of gin shorts for over ten minutes before the gunmen took to their heels and disappeared into the thick darkness of the night.
Although the incident recorded no lost of llives but an injury was sustained by the security men attached him.(Candidate)
This is the second time suspected assassins have made attempts on his life
The first was was on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, when he escaped attempt on his life by assassins disguised as police officers who opened gun fire on his convoy along Warri/Sapele Highway on his way to Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of the State for the commissioning of the ultra modern floating market, Ogheye.
The incident has been reported to the Delta State Police command for investigation
