The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is working closely with international partners, including the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United Kingdom National Crime Agency (NCA), to investigate the importation of 1,000 kilograms of cocaine worth over ₦338 billion.
The cocaine was discovered in an empty container at the PTML Terminal of Tincan Island Port in Lagos, following a tip-off from terminal operators. A joint examination by NDLEA and other port security agencies confirmed the substance, and the drugs were formally handed over to the NDLEA on Tuesday.
NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa has directed that the agency’s international partners be involved in the investigation, given the large quantity of the recovered Class A drug. The collaboration aims to leave no stone unturned in tracking down the masterminds behind the consignment, regardless of their location.
