The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, has commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for sustaining peace and stability across the state through the deliberate execution of people-focused projects and impactful empowerment programmes. Speaking on “Niger Delta Today” on ADBN Television, Ifeajika attributed the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state to the government’s strategic, inclusive, and highly effective governance approach.

Ifeajika identified youth engagement as a critical pillar of the administration’s peace strategy, explaining that several programmes had been designed to productively engage young people across the state. He noted that when youths are meaningfully engaged, they are less inclined toward restiveness or criminal activity. The government has rolled out programmes that young people genuinely appreciate and look forward to, he added.

Ifeajika also highlighted the state government’s proactive steps to support security agencies, including providing equipment and logistics with state resources rather than waiting solely for federal intervention. He noted that security agencies in Delta State are well-supported, well-equipped, and properly motivated, with a coordinated Joint Task Force to ensure that all parts of the state are adequately covered

Ifeajika attributed the peace currently enjoyed in the state to visible development, which has fostered satisfaction among residents and redirected their energy toward productive ventures. He noted that ongoing development projects now cut across all parts of the state, with virtually every community benefiting from one form of intervention or another, including infrastructural support to security agencies.

Ifeajika highlighted major road and flyover projects across the state, noting that even the announcement of some projects sparked jubilation due to their life-saving and economic significance. He stressed the importance of community participation, urging residents to monitor projects in their localities and report any substandard work through dedicated government channels to ensure accountability.

Ifeajika disclosed that the state government recently introduced a N1 billion loan scheme for operators of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. He explained that the scheme, which is being managed by Bank of Industry, offers one-digit interest financing managed through credible development finance institutions to ensure transparency, sustainability, and revolving access for more beneficiaries.

In agriculture, Ifeajika disclosed that no fewer than 12,000 farmers across various value chains had been profiled and supported with inputs, funding, and technical assistance. He cited the state’s large-scale rice farming initiative, involving hundreds of hectares of land in Aviara, Isoko South Local Government Area, as a major step toward food sufficiency, job creation, and reduced dependence on food imports.

Ifeajika concluded that the combination of security investment, youth engagement, infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and agricultural expansion had positioned Delta State as a peaceful, stable, and prosperous destination. “Delta is fast becoming a wonderful place to live, work, and do business,” he said.
