Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a stern warning to individuals who might be planning to disrupt the peace in the state, particularly with the 2027 general elections on the horizon.
The Governor gave the warning when he played host to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Aina Adesola, and his team at the Government House in Asaba,
He emphasized the need for security agencies to take a firm stance against anyone found with firearms or attempting to breach the peace.
Governor Oborevwori noted that the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state is a direct result of the collaborative efforts between the police and other security agencies.
He expressed his confidence in CP Adesola’s ability to maintain this peace, given his experience and familiarity with the state, having previously served in key operational positions within the command.
The governor recalled the security situation in the state prior to 2023, where the open display of firearms by youths and criminals was a common occurrence.
However, he noted that this has been decisively curtailed, and such acts will no longer be tolerated in the state.
He commended senior officers within the command for their dedication and professionalism, particularly ACP Aliyu Shaba and the former Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, for their outstanding roles in tackling gun violence in previously volatile areas of the state.

As the state approaches another election cycle, Governor Oborevwori charged the police command to remain proactive and firm in maintaining peace and security.
He emphasized that anyone found with firearms or attempting to disrupt the peace will face the full weight of the law, saying, “We will not tolerate insecurity in this state.
He further warned that anyone caught with firearms or attempting to disrupt peace must be arrested and prosecuted.
The governor also urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and useful information, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
He highlighted the importance of peace in attracting investors and promoting development and economic growth, stating, “Peace gives room for development as investors will not come into the state Without peace being maintained,l- the major reason Delta State remains open for business.
In response, CP Aina Adesola thanked the governor for the warm reception and assured him of the command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across Delta State.
He pledged that under his leadership, residents would continue to sleep with their two eyes closed, as the police would work tirelessly to ensure lasting peace in the state.
