Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu said that the meeting was necessary to ensure the availability of cash for transportation of materials for and payment of  services that would be rendered by vendors most of whom are unbanked .

The meeting with the CBN Governor is coming  as a result  of the recent cash swap deadline policy, caused by the redesign of some denominations of  Naira currency, and the limitations  placed on cash withdrawals by Central Bank of Nigeria.
