Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Deltans on the occasion of the state’s 35th creation anniversary, saying the state has entered a new phase of sustainable growth and prosperity.
In a statement issued Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described August 27 as a significant milestone in the history of the state, which was created on August 27, 1991.
Oborevwori said the past 35 years have been defined by resilience, unity and the collective efforts of the people. He commended past governors, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, private sector actors and all Deltans for their contributions to the state’s development.
“My administration remains committed to building on the achievements of previous governments through people-oriented policies, infrastructural renewal, economic expansion and inclusive governance,” he stated.
The governor said ongoing projects across the state reflect his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and creating opportunities for citizens.
He called on Deltans to remain united and continue supporting the government’s development agenda, assuring that the state’s best years are ahead.
“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today. The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” Oborevwori said.
The governor wished Deltans at home and in the diaspora a happy anniversary, and urged renewed commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in advancing the state.
