The Delta State Community in the Federal Capital Territory has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on the successful hosting of the state’s Economic and Investment Summit held from August 3rd to 5th, 2026, describing it as a bold step toward repositioning the state for growth.

In a press conference addressed by its President, Olorogun B. O. Nafagha, the community said the summit was conceived to drive economic transformation and open up opportunities for businesses and youths across the state.

The group commended the administration for creating a platform that brought together investors, business leaders, development partners, and government institutions to explore pathways for economic advancement.

“The summit represents an important step in positioning the State as an attractive destination for investment, entrepreneurship, industrial development and sustainable economic growth. It is a platform that connects vision with opportunity,” Nafagha said.

The community expressed optimism that the summit would yield tangible benefits including increased local and foreign investments, job creation, expansion of industries, improved infrastructure, stronger public-private partnerships, higher government revenue, and more opportunities for entrepreneurs and young people.

“Thus, the Ukodo is ready for eating,” Nafagha stated, expressing hope that the gains would cut across the three senatorial districts of Delta State.

The FCT chapter also stressed that Deltans living outside the state must not be excluded from the development conversation.

According to the group, the Abuja community comprises professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, civil servants and technocrats who can contribute meaningfully to the governor’s development agenda if properly engaged.

While applauding the summit, the community formally requested that Governor Oborevwori convene a Town Hall Meeting with Deltans resident in Abuja.

Nafagha noted that since the governor assumed office, the Delta community in the FCT has not had direct engagement with the state government.

“We believe that a town hall meeting would provide an appropriate avenue to address this gap and establish a meaningful channel of communication between the Governor and Deltans living in the nation’s capital,” he said.

The group outlined five key objectives for the proposed meeting:
1. *Direct briefing* from the Governor on achievements, policies and development priorities
2. *Clarity* on how opportunities from the summit can benefit Deltans at home and in the diaspora
3. *Input* through ideas, concerns and recommendations for state development
4. *Collaboration* on how Abuja-based professionals and investors can support the state’s economic agenda
5. *Unity* and a framework for regular engagement between the government and the FCT community

The community urged the governor to fix a mutually convenient date and venue in Abuja for the engagement, describing it as “a call for inclusion, dialogue and partnership.”

“We commend His Excellency for the initiative demonstrated through the summit and encourage his administration not to rest until the summit produces immeasurable investment opportunities for every Deltan,” Nafagha added.

The Delta State Community in the FCT reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives that promote the progress, unity and prosperity of the state, and expressed hope for an early meeting with the governor.
