Rotary Club Promotes Exclusive Breastfeeding to Boost Child’s Immunity

Health experts have emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, citing its role in building immunity, promoting bonding, and supporting development.

This message was conveyed during a sensitization outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Effurun District 9141
at the Alaka Primary Health Care Center in Uvwie Local Government Area.

Resource persons and a matron, Mrs Grace Ikoroje flanked by other health personnel urged the women to build bond with their children through exclusive breast feeding maintaining that health professionals should be consulted at all times to get standard medical services.

According to the club’s president, Rotarian Elvis Irefo, the sensitization is to highlight the importance of exclusive baby friendly: combating maternal and child mortality.

“This programme is part of Rotary international seven area of focus which prioritizes physical, social and emotional wellness of humanity as baby friendly practice would lay a bright foundation for a child formative development” he further explained.

Other Rotarians including the Director project, Rotarian Micheal Enehizena , President elect, Rotarian Aribogha Stephen as well as the public image chairperson, Rotarian Fovie Aghogho noted that the initiative is the club’s way of contributing to the well being of humanity especially mother and child.

The club’s efforts aim to contribute to the well-being of mothers and children, promoting a brighter future for the community

Gifts and Support

The Rotary Club presented gifts to the women, assuring them of continued support and advocacy for their health and well-being.

*Gratitude* Representatives of the health center and the women, Nurse Ejiro Gloria on behalf of the women
commended the Rotary Club for the initiative, as the women have been availed the opportunity to learn simple Medical and social routines that guarantee their health.

highlighting the importance of such programs in promoting health awareness and education.
