The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has strongly condemned the Nigerian Army’s use of force against peaceful protesters in Abraka, Delta State.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Chairman of Delta Online Publishers Forum, DOPF. Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli.

The statement explained that students, residents, and indigenes had gathered to highlight the area’s growing insecurity and kidnapping crisis but
Instead of addressing the concerns, it was alleged that the Delta State Government deployed military personnel, who fired on unarmed civilians.

The statement further explained that the protest included prominent student leaders, underscoring the widespread worry about safety.

DOPF views this action as anti-democratic and an abuse of power, trampling citizens’ rights to peaceful protest and expression.

“We question the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives, as promised by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori” the statement said

“We urge the Delta State and Federal Governments to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue, justice, and human rights over suppression.

Sustainable solutions are needed to address the state’s worsening insecurity” DOPF added.
