The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeka has commended Delta Online Publishers Forum DOPF for its accurate reportage by its members which she said has added value to the visibility of the institution.
She made this commendation when she played host to member of the Forum as ked by the Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Enebeli on Thursday at her office.
Prof. Chiemeka expressed that the wide coverage by DOPF members has given the university a boost thereby making it the preferred choice of admission seekers.
The professor of Computer Science pledged the readiness of UNIDEL, known for academic excellence and good sporting records, to partner with DOPF in taking the institution to greater heights.
The VC who revealed the drastic increase of students seeking admission into the University from about one thousand to over eleven thousand said the admission quota of the University was dependent on the limit set by JAMB,
She also disclosed that all the 74 programmes of the institution had been accredited by the National Universities Commission ( NUC) in the past three years while the institution’s medical courses were currently undergoing accreditation, with bright prospects of being fully accredited by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria as the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, had approved the use of the Trauma Centre, Agbor, for the teaching of medical programmes..
On their part, DOPF Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Enebeli while speaking on behalf of the Forum explained that the visit was to seek collaboration with the authorities of the institution on possible areas that will be beneficial to both parties.
He congratulated and commended the VC for her monumental recorded achievements within three years of her administration.
DOPF Chairman, Enebeli solicited a more robust partnership between DOPFand UNIDEL through publication of stories of the University community activities and assured the VC of its enormous benefits to the institution
Highpoint of the visit was presentation of souvenirs to the DOPF delegation.
Present at the meeting was the Director of Communication of the University of Delta, Mr Edward Ogwude.
