Okuama killing:  A professor, several others declared wanted by military

The Nigerian military has declared eight people wanted in connection with the killing of 12 soldiers In Okuama, Delta state,

The military released the list on Thursday at a briefing in Abuja.

 

Those declared wanted are Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (a.k.a Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe, Reuben Baru and  Igoli Ebi.

According to an Army Spokesman, the troops were on a mission to halt clashes between two communities in Delta.

The Acting Director of Defence information , Brigadier General Tukur Gusau  in a  statement said  the troops deployed in the Bomadi region “were surrounded by same community youths and killed on Thursday, March 14

“The reinforcement team was also attacked leading to the death of the Commanding officer, two majors, one captain and 12 soldiers said Gusau,

The Soldiers has responded to a distress call  following trouble between the two communities, Okoloba and Okuama

The two communities have repeatedly clashed recently over land ownership leaving several dead

The statement noted that a few arrest has been made while plans on ground to unravel the motive behind the attack. guardian
